Qside FCU Celebrates 75 Years of "People Helping People"
75 years ago, a group of employees from Con Edison’s Waterside Power Plant banded together to form an institution that would help each other save and borrow money. Based on the concept of “people helping people”, the idea was that its members would pool their funds to make loans to one another, at more affordable interest rates than traditional banks.
Today, this institution – originally chartered as Waterside Federal Credit Union in 1940 – has grown and flourished to what is now Qside Federal Credit Union. With more than $50 million in assets, and serving over 9,000 members, our 75th anniversary is a proud milestone for the credit union.

We are pleased to announce that we have expanded our mortgage loan program to now include FHA (Federal Housing Administration) mortgage loans and refinances.
With FHA mortgage loans, the minimum amount for a down payment on a home is only 3.5%.
Compare that to the 10% down payment required for traditional mortgage loans and you'll agree that a FHA mortgage could be the key to finally owning your own home. For example, if you find a home for $200,000, the down payment could be as little as $7,000 with a FHA home loan.
What are FHA loans?
The FHA loan program is designed to promote homeownership. FHA loans are mortgages that are insured by the Federal Housing Administration, an agency of the federal government. The FHA is not a lender – rather, it insures loans against default, protecting approved lenders like Qside so we can offer a better deal with greater flexibility than conventional home loans.
What are the advantages of an FHA loan?
Advantages include: much lower down payments than conventional mortgages, allowing homebuyers to purchase a home sooner; down payments can be funded from gifted money (other loan programs don't allow this); FHA loan rates are typically lower than conventional mortgages; it's easier to qualify for an FHA loan than a conventional mortgage.
Visit the Qside FCU Mortgage Loan Center for custom rates, easy pre-qualification and expert advice to guide you through the home loan process. Choosing your credit union is the first step toward an affordable home loan.
